Everywhere you look, nature’s color palette is springing to life. Vibrant greens, yellows and purples decorate our neighbors’ yards; it’s no wonder that Spring is associated with renewal, both inside and out. Now, is the perfect time to consider giving your home (and yard) a fresh new look, but where do you begin? Pinterest is great, but you’re likely to get overwhelmed by the plethora of ideas. That’s why I’ve put together a quick list of the 2017 home design trends that will help you bring nature indoors or take your interior design to the next level.
Bold Front Doors
What’s the first thing you typically notice about someone’s home when you visit for the first time? The front door, of course. Make sure your entrance is not only inviting, but also makes a statement. If it’s been a while since you’ve refreshed your main door, it could be giving the wrong impression. If you don’t have the budget to buy a new one, consider giving it a face lift with a bold new color.
In 2017, graphite appliances, such black stainless steel or slate, will be the hottest kitchen trend. This finish not only hides fingerprints very well, but also adds a touch of elegance to any home. It pairs perfectly with light and dark settings, but works best in minimalist or contemporary settings.
You don’t have to be good at math to love these fun geometric patterns that are showing up in unexpected places throughout homes. From small accent pieces, such as pillows or throw rugs, to full walls or floors, the possibilities are as endless as an infinity symbol. One of the most popular ways to incorporate this 2017 design trend into your home is by adding a quirky backsplash to your kitchen or bathroom.
Rich Jewel Tones
Those deep purples, greens and golds don’t have to stay in the garden; you can bring them inside, too! Just be sure you don’t go overboard or your home may feel more like Mardi Gras. A pop of color, paired with neutral colors, draws to eye and creates the right balance. Try adding a pillow to a couch, changing out your bedding or add a chair for a quick change. If you want a more dramatic look, try adding an accent wall in a deep purple or sapphire blue.
Your love of nature doesn’t have to stay outside. This year’s hottest trend is to bring natural, earthy elements indoors. Cork walls are all the rage, but can be challenging to keep clean over time, so you may want to try something with a little more staying power, such as terra cotta floors or countertops. Other ideas include nature-infused artwork, statement pieces or even a unique half-wall to help divide larger rooms.
