The holiday season is here and your desire to celebrate has probably reached a new level. Like many of us, you may feel like you’ve seen it all when it comes to Jacksonville’s holiday festivities; however, you might be surprised to learn just how much this city has to offer when it comes to light displays.
Listed below are five spectacular holiday light displays you must check out this year!
Deck the Chairs
One of the most unique light displays you will probably ever see is right here in Jacksonville Beach. Head down to Latham Plaza and the Seawalk Pavilion Lawn to view dozens of lifeguard chairs decorated from top to bottom in lights. Not only is it an exciting experience, but all proceeds received during the event go to benefit the Volunteer Life Saving Corps of Jacksonville Beach – a local nonprofit that helps fund lifesaving training to protect our beach community.

The famed Jacksonville Zoo transforms every year to provide an exciting holiday atmosphere the whole family will enjoy. ZOOLights is a nighttime attraction that offers thousands of LED lights, holiday music, marshmallow roasting and more, all in the presence of the zoo’s many animal species. If all the fun begins to wear you out, just hop aboard the lighted train, which offers the most unique way to travel through the park. It’s truly a winter wonderland right here in North Florida.

Want to take in all the holiday sights without having to leave the warmth and comfort of your own car? This might be the place for you! Jax Illuminations is a drive-thru light display that features a mile of LED lights that dance along to the beat of cherished holiday songs. What’s even better is they’re open on Christmas Eve and Christmas day, giving you something to do after all the festivities at home come to an end.

Located off Girvin Road, the Blackhawk Bluff neighborhood has become one of Jacksonville’s go-to areas for holiday light viewing. Although it may seem like the average suburban neighborhood during the day, this generally quiet area quickly turns into a lively and crowded scene once night falls. Here you’ll enjoy home after home decked out in lights and displays, but the real treat is the overhanging decorations that line each street creating an ambiance like no other.
Christmas on Crystal Springs
A winner of ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight, Christmas on Crystal Springs is a hidden gem on Jacksonville’s west side. Even though this light display is constructed on just the front lawn of a single home, it is nothing to scoff at. Stand or park along the front and tune in to its very own radio station to take in all the magic of this synchronized show hosted by two animatronic snowmen. This one is well worth the drive.
