School’s finally out for summer…. now what? Normally for kids the summer is filled with lots of fun activities like summer camps, vacations, and playing at the park with friends. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has halted most of these exciting activities. Even though there’s not as much to do as years past, there are still quite a few fun family-friendly activities open on the First Coast that you can start enjoying right away!
Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens
The Jacksonville Zoo located on the northside of the city provides people of all ages a fun experience seeing and interacting with various animal species. From spiders to snakes and gorillas to giraffes, there’s sure to be an animal there to put a smile on the face of everyone in your family.
Dave & Busters
Dave & Buster’s in Jacksonville is open and ready to serve up some family fun! Their arcade, complete with a restaurant and bar, is the perfect place for families looking to have a fun night out. Like most of us – If an escape from reality is what you need, keep a trip to Dave & Buster’s on your mind!
Marineland – the First Coast’s home of dolphin encounters – is open and offering exciting family-friendly adventures! Operating on limited hours and at limited capacity, Marineland is taking extra precautions to ensure you’re safe during your visit. Their experiences range from general admission to view their beautiful facility to being in the water swimming with one-on-one with the dolphins. Marineland is the perfect place to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience this summer right here on the First Coast.
Had enough of the Florida summer heat? Hit the ice with the whole family at Jacksonville Ice and Sportsplex. They offer the public year-round access to ice skating seven days a week. Swing by for their matinee skate on weekday mornings or an evening skate on the weekends. What’s really cool is every Tuesday night is family night. From 7:30 pm to 9 pm on Tuesdays your entire family can receive admission to the rink and rental skates for only $7!
Don’t let the situation with COVID-19 keep your spirits down. There are many family-friendly activities still available this summer that can help you bring a little fun back into your lives!
