Coastal Living in Neptune Beach

Neptune Beach is a small, beachfront community just east of Jacksonville, Florida. Its name originated in 1922, when resident Dan G Wheeler built his own train station, aptly named “Neptune,” so the Florida East Coast Railway would have to drop him off closer to home each night. It officially became a municipality in 1931 when it seceded from Jacksonville Beach after a tax revolt. Today, less than 25 percent of the households in Neptune Beach have children under the age of 18, which makes this community very attractive for singles, couples or those seeking a retirement home.

Nestled between Jacksonville Beach and Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach has a casual, laid-back vibe that many people look for in a coastal community. It’s perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy cycling, running, surfing or just soaking up the sun.
